Greek Oregano " Joy of the Mountains "

Oregano
Rigani in Greèk
Oros means mountain Ganos means joy.  "Joy of the mountains"
Collected from the mountainside of Ikaria
At end of June  early July.


To make Oregano oil
Clean glass jar
Place 4-5 sprigs fresh cut Oregano
Fill jar with Good quality Olive oil (we used Ikarian olive oil)
Cover let stand for 40 days
The rest we tied off and left to dry in a cool dry place .
To be used  later for spices in cooking

Oregano oil derived from origanum vulgate 
(Wild oregano ) the other varieties don't offer  the same medicinal  qualities 
Considered one of the most potent beneficial herbs.
In Greece it is a symbol of happiness
In ancient tradition they use to crown the bride and grooms with oregano wreaths
Anti viral
Anti bacterial
Anti fungal
Kill parasites & infections 
Mix a drop of oregano oil with coconut oil place under tongue hold it there for a couple of minutes
Then rinse 4 x daily
Foot fungus
2 teaspoons of oregano oil basin of warm water soak you feet x 15 minutes
Colds and sinus infections 
 few drops of oregano oil steaming hot water inhale the steam
Also used for UTI's, respiratory infections, yeast infections, Parasitic infections ,MRSA



*Ikarians collect and use Oregano  for many medicinal purposes, as my oil is not ready for use yet I
Cannot speak to wether it works or not I am only sharing Ikarian knowledge of this plant*
